There are always a lot of birds on the beach, and on occasion I would catch them in these contemplative states at the looked out over the ocean. This photo is one of my all time favorites.

The Lone Tree on the Beach
This lone tree stands on the southernmost point of Folly Beach in South Carolina. It’s been dead for years, but continues to stand undisrupted by the tides. A family is picking shells from a tide pool in the distance.
Myrtle Beach by Air
A couple of years back we took a helicopter tour of Myrtle Beach. One of those overpriced touristy type rides. They even had a tip jar in the cockpit. But the ride afforded us some beautiful aerial views of the beach including this one of a fishing pier.

I’m drawn to the leading lines and structure of piers and how they contrast with the organic movement of the water below. I don’t remember exactly which pier this is, somewhere near Cherry Grove, South Carolina.

Coastal South Carolina affords some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever find on God’s green earth. When nature allows, the clouds over the ocean can leave you awestruck by their beauty. This photo was taken in Cherry Grove beach in the Fall.
